Review: Finding Sky by Joss Stirling

Blurb:

Sky has a secret past. Having buried the truth of her traumatic childhood deep inside, she's something of a mystery, even to herself.
Starting a new school, she catches her first glimpse of Zed. He stalks the corridors, a god-like creature among mortals. Sky is dumbfounded when he seems drawn to her, but there's more to Zed - and to Sky - than she realizes.
"You have half our gifts, I have the other...'

Review:

This book should come with a warning.
Seriously. If you don't want another obsession, walk away now!

The writings great, the plots amazing and the characters are perfect. I love the relationship between the main characters: Sky and Zed.

Sky's a shy British girl with a troubled past she can't remember. When she meets Zed Benedict she thinks he's "bad but not mean" and, honestly, she's fascinated - and a little frightened. Zed, on the other hand, is angry - kind of like the class trouble-maker on paranormal steroids.

Zed meets Sky and here's the truly amazing thing in a YA paranormal novel.
There's no insta-love.
Now take a moment to soak that in. Even though they're literally perfect - they're soulfinders: supernatural soulmates, to you and me - for each other, they grow in to a relationship - though, admittedly Zed comes on a bit too strong. In a totally hot, manly way.
I wish someone would climb up my apple tree. Just saying.

This book is amazing and I seriously recommend it for anyone of any age, even if you've given up in the paranormal genre after the influx of shoddy insta-loves and the recurring plots, Finding Sky is original with characters you truly care about at the end of the novel. It's not dragons and wizards, the gifts the savants have are actually kind of conceivable. Maybe that's just me: as a child I would sit and stare at the light switch and will it off so I wouldn't have to get out of bed. Unfortunately, I'm not a savant. Damn.

But beware: you're heart will be broken. You will fall in love with one of the Benedicts by the end of the novel. If cheeky Xav - who seems to just burst in with something hilarious to say randomly throughout the book - isn't your thing then don't fear, there's super-smart Yves or serious Victor. Hell, there's seven hot, young guys all seeking their perfect other half's. What more could a girl ask for?

However, Joss Stirling is taking a 'pause' from her Benedicts series. Le sigh.
